The goal of the workshop was to examine the impact of EU regulations on US firms and on US legislation. An emerging literature emphasizes the role of the European Union as a regulatory power. The fiscal powers of the European Union are rather small and are not expected to increase.

The aim of the conference was to bring together scholars who study various aspects of legislative behavior.
Bringing together academics, policy experts, and funding organizations from the US and EU, this conference focused on the changing political and economic environment for agriculture in the two regions.
